|Chinese Railroad Workers|
Ainsworth Chinese Community. Franklin County.
Ainsworth Chinese Community was approximately one and one half miles from the mouth of the Snake River on its northern bank. It was a construction town housing hundreds of Chinese laborers who built the Northern Pacific Railroad between Ainsworth and Spokane. The community persisted from 1879-1884. The town of Pasco has now expanded into the area of the Ainsworth Chinese Community. References: “Ainsworth, Washington”; Chin and Chin 2013: 41; Gibson 2005.
