Eagle Cliff Cannery. Wahkiakan County.
Eagle Cliff Cannery was on the Columbia River approximately nine miles east of Cathlamet, the county seat. The cannery began in 1866. In 1872, it hired the first Chinese for cannery work, an industry in which the Chinese became the dominant work force throughout the state. Reference: Oldham 2006.
